NOTICE 11/22 (expires 1st Feb 2012)
OTTERY CRICKETS HOCKEY CLUB IS RECRUITING
Ottery Crickets Hockey Club is well into the new hockey season. The Club, which trains and plays its home games at the Colin Tooze, is still keen to recruit to its Ladies’ and Men’s squads, and to its Junior Academy.
A year after receiving national ClubsFirst kitemark accreditation, Ottery Crickets Hockey Club has again been recognised nationally. This time the Club was amongst five clubs nationally to be recognised by the England Hockey Board as having a “BIG HEART” for its efforts to develop hockey in our community.
The Club has two Ladies’ and four men’s teams in addition to a thriving Junior Academy and we’re looking to recruit players, older and younger, who are new to the area or anyone who is interested in returning to hockey or wants to learn to play.
For anyone interested in joining our ladies or men’s squads routine full training goes ahead from Tue 6th Sep (Ladies’: 7.00-8.15pm; Men’s 8.15-9.30pm). New players are welcomed at all these sessions. To encourage adults to return to play hockey, the Club will be running Sunday morning “Rusty” hockey sessions from 18th Sep 2011. This is for adults, Mums, Dads and anyone interested in making a “comeback” in a relaxed and non-pressured session. Sessions will run in parallel with the 10-11am Junior sessions.
Our Junior Academy started new weekly hockey sessions from Sun 18th Sep 2011, 10-11am for children in School Years 4 & 5. This was in response to the growing demand from local youngsters and follows the growing local interest in hockey developed in partnership with The King’s School and its five feeder primary schools. Our Year 7+ session for Secondary aged youngsters will follow from 11-12pm - new and returning players are welcome.
To develop their hockey basics, our youngest players will play “Quicksticks” a new and exciting child-friendly variant coached by the Club’s specially trained coaches.
For further enquiries phone, Karen our Club Secretary on 01392 881950.
